Darcelle XV Plaza

THANK YOU to Poison Waters and all who agreed to be in the video and share their ideas.

Share your ideas for Darcelle XV Plaza!

Formerly O’Bryant Square, Darcelle XV Plaza honors Portland luminary Walter Cole, who enlivened the city of Portland with Darcelle XV Showcase, the longest-running drag cabaret on the West Coast, and supported its citizens through activism and advocacy for inclusion and LGBTQ+ rights.

Back to Square One: Reimagining O’Bryant Square was a community visioning effort of the CPID, Portland Parks Foundation, and Portland Parks and Recreation which engaged over 1,000 Portlanders around their ideas for an interim/temporary use of the park (3-5 years) that could help inform a permanent park to come. Now that the park has been renamed and the focus of the programming has evolved, we want to hear what inclusive space in downtown Portland that honors both Darcelle XV and the LGBTQ+ community means to you. We appreciate any thoughts you’d like to share, but are particularly interested in hearing about activities, site elements, and design concepts you’d like to see, as well as significance of the park to you and/or memories of Darcelle XV.
